Upon receiving her Juris Doctorate from Cornell Law School, Lisa commenced her professional career on the Central Staff of the New York State Court of Appeals. Following her clerkship, she worked for several years as an appellate lawyer in the Appeals and Opinions Bureau of the New York State Attorney General’s Office.
Subsequently, Lisa worked briefly for the New York State Education Department before working as a criminal defense appellate attorney at the Center for Appellate Litigation, NY. Then, before commencing work with the Office of Indigent Legal Services (ILS), Lisa spent 6 years with the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York, where she worked exclusively with indigent persons who were homeless or were at risk of becoming homeless. Lisa describes her work with the Legal Aid Society as the single, most personally-rewarding work she has performed in her professional career: the results of her efforts were immediate, and she could attest, daily, to the positive difference she made in the lives of many indigent persons.
In October 2015, Lisa started work at ILS as the Eligibility Standards Implementation Attorney, in pursuit of her strong desire to continue her work for the indigent on a more systemic level.
